VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

The school is working to develop a Virtual Learning Environment which is a teaching and learning resource that can be accessed from anywhere.  Part of this process is pupils putting work onto Wikis which are editable web sites.  In Science Year 8 Set 1 have been doing Wikis on Nuclear Energy.  We hope to put examples on the web site shortly.

We are collecitng this year for new digital cameras for the school.  Please give coupons into the School Office.

DIDA EXAMINATION RESULTS

Twelve Year 11 ICT students entered for the DIDA qualification early.  They all achieved good results which were mostly higher than was expected of them.  They are now preparing for their second unit which should ensure that they leave with a double qualification in the summer.  Congratulations to all of them.

PONTLLANFRAITH YOUNG ENTERPRISE

The Young Enterprise group had their first roadshow event on Thursday March 3rd.  They spent the afternoon teaching Year 6 pupils about Forces and Gravity.  It was a  successful day and the reaction from the pupils was very enthusiastic.  The school would like us to return and we are plannning more roadshows in different locations.  We are also working hard on producing our Company Report and preparing for the Young Enterprise Regional Final on March 23rd.

 ECO SCHOOL BRONZE AWARD

We are delighted to receive the Eco school bronze award.  This demonstrates that we have made a good start in improving the sustainability of the school.  We will now be working towards gaining the Silver Award.

 OUTSTANDING RESULTS IN EARLY ENTRY MATHS G.C.S.E

Congratulations to the Year 11 pupils who sat their Mathematics GCSE in November. They achieved 8A*, 8A and 1B grade. A fantastic effort has been put in by all and they thoroughly deserve these results.
