Special Needs Faculty
The Special Needs Faculty provides support for pupils with additional learning needs of any kind. Support is offered to pupils in a variety of ways, including:
- In class support from learning assistants
- Withdrawal literacy and numeracy lessons
- Individual support for improvement of reading ability
- Buddy reading support in conjunction with the English Faculty
- Pupils with specific learning difficulties can benefit from individual lessons with a specialist teacher
- Monitoring of more able pupils
- Making additional courses available at KS4 level, providing an alternative to GCSE's such as ASDAN
The faculty works very closely with our Social Inclusion Facility to ensure that all pupils at Pontllanfraith are supported fully in all aspects of school life
