Pupil Progress

Pupils are assessed on a regular basis and targets set in terms of levels every half term. Short term target are set in class as part of our Assessment for Learning    Policy and pupils are given feedback, both written and verbal on a regular basis. All work from Year 7 is gathered and submitted as part of the KS3 Science Portfolio, which is then added to to track pupil     progress in Years 8 and 9.

KS3 into KS4

In Year 10 pupils study for the WJEC GCSE in Core Science, and are assessed by means of external exam in the summer of that year. They then study WJEC GCSE Additional Science in Year 11, assessed in a    similar manner. Pupils are also required to sit practical exams in all three science disciplines, and are coached in practical techniques throughout their school career in  readiness.

We are very pleased to be able to offer pupils the  opportunity to study GCSE Separate Science—ideal for those pupils who wish to pursue a career in science and study science A levels.

The 2006/7 cohort of pupils achieved a pass rate of over 82% A* - C with 5 pupils achieving A* grades and 8 pupils achieving A grade.
